About Us

Our Story

In the summer of 1992 we started our small farm with a large home garden. As a family we have always loved to grow, cook, and eat.

The hobby/obsession evolved in 2012 with the addition of layers and the mobile “Egg Wagon''. This was soon followed by the addition of a small grass based cattle herd and batches of Non-GMO feeder pigs. This was done in an effort to build topsoil, as well as to consume wholesome and safe food produced by animals that are treated humanely.

Our Practices

While we have made a conscious choice to not certify organic, we have always followed strict organic practices. We never use pesticides, synthetic fertilizers or any type of chemical sprays. We grow with only Non-GMO and certified organic seed varieties. We prefer to think of our farm as beyond organic.

Our no-till approach allows us to build very fertile soil which supports healthy plants and nutrient dense food. Using a compost based soil management approach encourages soil microbes to thrive. We use high value crops, intensive growing methods so every square inch of our plot is used efficiently. When a crop is removed, compost is added and it’s immediately re-planted.

Animals are frequently moved over pasture so they get as much of their diet as possible from living forage.  Over wintered animals are deep bedded with wood chips in bright, airy shelters with daily access to the outdoors and fresh air.

We have the ability to extend our growing season with row covers, caterpillar tunnels and our deep winter greenhouse. We are proud of the way we grow and live. This food is the food we feed our family and we are honored to offer it to yours.

  • What is a "CSA"?
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. It is a partnership between the farm and its community. You commit for a season of produce in advance. This allows us to calibrate how much produce to grow. Most of the farms costs come at the beginning of the season, securing capital and customers gives us a guaranteed market. In return the farm harvests the "cream of the crop" for its members. The CSA model creates a direct connection between farmers and eaters.
  • Is Gallups Market Garden certified organic?
We do grow organically however we choose not to certify organic with the USDA. Certified organic is not the gold standard it once was. There are several pesticides approved for organic use, but we believe that toxic substances, no matter their origins, should not be applied to our food. We never use pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, or any type of chemical sprays. We grow with only non-GMO and certified organic seed varieties. We prefer to think of our farm as beyond organic!

Raw milk is full of nutritional benefits. It contains much more amino acids, antimicrobials, vitamins, minerals, and fatty acids than pasteurized milk. The pasteurization process kills off the live, healthy bacterias.
